Approaching 15 Years of Risk Management Training

In 2005 the International Academy of Business and Financial Management (IABFM) became one of the first training organisations in the world offering risk management programs, initially in Hong Kong and then other countries, particularly in the Middle East.  These programs were initially conducted by specialist risk management professors from Monash University, which was a pioneer in risk management.

From an initial offering of one single risk management program the number that we now offer has increased to more than 6 specialised programs.  However, we recognise that organisations operate in a dynamic environment and that risk is associated with a far greater number of areas than originally recognised.  Corporate governance rules in most jurisdictions now require that risk assessment and risk management be included in audit committee discussions.  It is clear that the role of the risk management professionals needs to be changing so that the risk management department is in a position to advise Boards on all types of risks that the organisation may face.  In order to assist risk management professionals we are including on our website a number of articles relating to risk management.  In addition we are progressively introducing training programs in areas such as:

• Risk appetite
• Reputational risk
• Fraud risk
• Business continuity risk
• Conduct risk
