The continuing saga of estate tax repeal

In a February 10 speech before the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C., Senate Majority Leader William H. Frist (R-Tenn.) stated that he plans to bring legislation to the floor in May to repeal the federal estate tax. Last year the House of Representatives passed legislation to repeal the estate tax in full, but the Senate never acted on the bill. Senators from both parties have expressed doubts that a full repeal measure would receive the votes required for Senate passage.
